I know… it’s ALL from the inside out. But in this case I mean specifically reinventing your CELLS from the inside out and actually creating a whole new, healthier you.
You know that your cells are always dying and regenerating, right? It’s estimated that every 2 years, you have a completely new cellular you, and not one cell that exists now existed 2 years ago. The body is an amazing thing!
Some body parts turn over faster than others. I think I read that eye cells regenerate every 2 days where bone cells take months or maybe years. If you look at pictures of people who have gone through tremendous amounts of stress and compare them to pictures taken just a few years before, you can see actual physical changes in their structure… they may look angular or haggard, or you may see creases in their face that weren’t there before. These changes are the result of healthy cells dying, the DNA is damaged because of stress, and the new cells aren’t as healthy as the ones that preceded them.
So what’s the secret to reinventing your physical self, without going under the knife?
Who knows what the first step is?
That’s right, you have to have stellar nutrition. Your body need real nutrients, found in real food. It doesn’t need corn syrup or enriched wheat flour or maltodextrin… it needs fruits, vegetables, healthy fats from nuts, seeds, avocados and fish, and easily digested proteins from lean meats. It doesn’t need pasta or bagels, but it does need potatoes and squash. If you feed your body food from a box, how on earth is it going to take that food and turn it into healthy cells? Doesn’t that just make sense? So if you’re not as healthy as you want, and your doctor prescribes a medication but doesn’t recommend dietary changes, how is a chemical going to fix what could be related to mal-nutrition?
I’ve said it before… Americans are over-fed and mal-nourished. And with that came a huge price in our health as a country.
You also need some amazing supplements to re-invent yourself from the inside out. We are exposed to more toxins a day than our ancestors were in a lifetime. These toxins live in our body fat, make hormonal changes in us, and wreak havoc on our DNA. Supplements can help undo that damage. They can help keep our filtering system (liver and kidneys) working well, they can move waste products out faster, they can tonify our blood. In addition, anti-oxidants can help prevent further DNA damage by scavenging the molecules that cause it and stopping them in their tracks. Without proper minerals, your body can’t make new bone, and calcium isn’t the only one you need. Supplements can make a huge difference.
Rest is also crucial to reinventing yourself physically. When you sleep, regeneration happens. When you don’t sleep, it doesn’t. It really is that simple. In order for your body to get maximum recuperation time during sleep, you need between 7-10 hours a night of uninterrupted sleep. Waking up to take care of children or use the bathroom takes its toll. Once your kids sleep through the night, you should make it a priority to get yourself to bed early and start catching up on all the lost sleep you’ve missed! And if you can’t make it through the night without having to pee, then make some changes in what you’re drinking during the day, and stop drinking fluids by 6 p.m.
I tell people all the time that living healthy is easy. And it is. If you ignore the hype and get back to basics.
