I can’t claim that phrase as my own… a bunch of women friends came up with up, but it’s pretty funny, and appropriate for tomorrow’s show.
The question Dr. Vicky and I get the most is “How do you cook from scratch all the time?” It’s a fair question because we are both busy with families and businesses. For me it’s a function of priorities. I’m a major foodie and I want to eat good food. Good food doesn’t come out of a box, and so therefore I cook from scratch. I also want to feed my kids healthy food, and I cook healthy. Because those two things are important to me, I make the time to cook.
When you cook a lot, you get good at it and you learn techniques that make it easier. For instance, I used to think baking homemade bread was hard. Then, after doing it a few times I realized it’s not hard at all. It’s a little time consuming, yes, but it’s not difficult. And now that I know how to work it into my schedule, I can arrange to have it whenever I want (which is dangerous because homemade bread and butter IS my downfall).
So tomorrow, we will share with you some of our favorite all time recipes, techniques, and advice for getting good, homemade food on the table, even if you have to work that day.
Listen at 11 a.m. on AM1380, or stay tuned to download the show afterwards. As soon as online streaming is back up, we’ll let you know.
