A belief is just a story you tell yourself over and over.
I don’t remember who taught me that, but once I heard it, it made perfect, intuitive sense to me.
So let me ask you this… what’s the difference between a story that makes you healthy or a story that keeps you sick?
The healthy person will focus on health. They will tell their self stories that their body works perfectly, they are approaching their ideal weight easily, naturally and permanently. They will tell their self that they choose foods that nourish their body, that they sleep deeply so their body can restore and replenish itself. If they have any aches, they will tell themselves that their body’s warning system works perfectly and they heed the messages it sends them. They will believe that they move their body the way it is designed, and they are grateful for their strength, health, and vitality.
The sick person will say to their self that they feel horrible, that they are sick, and that they have pain. They will focus on the area of pain, discomfort, or disease, and ignore those parts of their body that work perfectly. They will tell their self that they have no control, that their genetics determine their health and there’s “just nothing I can do to change it. My mom was this way, my dad was this way, my grandparents were this way, my siblings are this way.” They will seek out information that proves there is no changing it, and therefore reinforce the belief that they are sick.
The difference between the two is reacting versus being proactive. You can choose how you respond to any situation. Choose to be proactive and to believe that you are healthy by focusing on those parts of you that are healthy. In this way, you can begin to transform your health with just your thoughts. Or you can CHOOSE to continue reacting to illness or dysfunction and continue to feel miserable. The choice really is yours.
