Detoxifyng Your Body by Vicky Thomas

It seems that every other headline and add is about detoxing your body.  Well, if the truth be known, there is more to it than what you eat, or what you take to detox.  My perspective is about detox of the mind!  You know, garbage in, garbage out.  I get that fat, bloated feeling when sitting in a group of toxic people spewing toxic waste!  So I detox.  I’ve been known to “disappear” from social events, both personal and professional. When groups become negative and TOXIC!  I’ve had to coach clients to split from loved ones, friends, business associates who are TOXIC.  What situations or people in your life are TOXIC?  I’d love to know…and help you DETOX!

That’s just part of our show coming up Monday the 12th.

It’s Independence Day!

Happy 4th of July and belated Happy Canada day to our Canadian friends! Summer is officially here, and I bet there is going to be a lot of food, family, and frolicking fun this weekend (like my alliteration?).

Dr. Thomas and I are enjoying the weekend,  so Monday’s show will be a replay of our “What’s the crap they’re putting in food these days” show. If you didn’t hear it originally, you can listen Monday at 11 am (www.newstalk1380.com or live at AM1380 on your radio) or just visit the blog and download it… it aired April 12, 2010.

I’m going to invite you to think about your independence for the next few days. If you have eating issues, or substance abuse issues, think about getting healthier and gaining independence from them. If you’re on medications, consider enlisting the help of a professional to help you heal and gain independence from drugs. If you’re in an abusive relationship, get help and gain independence for yourself. If you’re relying on the charity of others to support you, dig deep for strength to take the steps necessary to gain your independence.

True health is a strength of spirit, of the body, and of your mind. Don’t ever give up searching for it.

Think yourself healthy? Can it be done?

A belief is just a story you tell yourself over and over.

I don’t remember who taught me that, but once I heard it, it made perfect, intuitive sense to me.

So let me ask you this… what’s the difference between a story that makes you healthy or a story that keeps you sick?

The healthy person will focus on health. They will tell their self stories that their body works perfectly, they are approaching their ideal weight easily, naturally and permanently. They will tell their self that they choose foods that nourish their body, that they sleep deeply so their body can restore and replenish itself. If they have any aches, they will tell themselves that their body’s warning system works perfectly and they heed the messages it sends them. They will believe that they move their body the way it is designed, and they are grateful for their strength, health, and vitality.

The sick person will say to their self that they feel horrible, that they are sick, and that they have pain. They will focus on the area of pain, discomfort, or disease, and ignore those parts of their body that work perfectly. They will tell their self that they have no control, that their genetics determine their health and there’s “just nothing I can do to change it. My mom was this way, my dad was this way, my grandparents were this way, my siblings are this way.” They will seek out information that proves there is no changing it, and therefore reinforce the belief that they are sick.

The difference between the two is reacting versus being proactive. You can choose how you respond to any situation. Choose to be proactive and to believe that you are healthy by focusing on those parts of you that are healthy. In this way, you can begin to transform your health with just your thoughts. Or you can CHOOSE to continue reacting to illness or dysfunction and continue to feel miserable. The choice really is yours.

To learn more, listen this morning at 11 a.m. on It’s A Pair-A-Docs radio show. We’re on AM1380 if you live in the Antelope Valley or online if you don’t. You can find us at www.Newstalk1380.com.

The Power of Your Brain – Miracles! By Dr. Vicky Thomas

One of the constant pleasures I get in my practice is watching the absolute change in clients when they learn how to think.  I know that seems like a strange thing to say, because thinking comes naturally, right?  Or does it?  Our beliefs are formed by our experiences so how can two people who experience the same situation have totally different beliefs about ONE experience let alone ALL of their common experiences.   Example:  One little boy walks into the lunch room, trips and sends his tray spraying across the lunch room floor.  All the children are silent for a moment , then start laughing.  He tears up, and is embarrassed and ashamed.  The second little boy walks into the lunch room, trips and sends his tray spraying across the lunch room floor.  The children are silent, then begin to laugh.   He jumps up, takes a bow,  and yells, “Next show, tomorrow, same time same place!”

Teaching YOU the power of your brain is my job!  661-209-2632

P.S. In my Junior High, either boy falling and spilling his tray would have started a food fight! : )
