Well, it’s highly possible that I may gain back the 6 pounds I lost after Christmas, but what the heck. I did it once and can do it again!
So, I’m staying tonight for the second night in what the internet says is Denmark’s most haunted castle. I really wanted to sleep in a castle. I am a queen, you know? So with a little help from my friends, I booked the night, drove 3 or so hours, and here I am. No sign of ghosts, unless you count the fact that my bathroom door cracked open last night while I was in the shower. Snicker if you must, but there’s a story, told to me by my waiter, by the fireplace (cozy, not spooky if you really want to know.) It goes like this: 500 years ago there was a little boy who liked to peek through the keyholes at the women dressing. (Most little boys would!) But this little boy was caught by the men of the castle and beaten. They thought they had killed him, so they hid his body in a huge wardrobe. The one in my room! Well, legend says he was not dead, and when he awakened all battered he was locked in. Later, they found his body now dead and the scratches inside the wardrobe where he tried to escape. So of course I checked for scratches as soon as I returned, and yes! there are some. He supposedly haunts room 22 (mine) peaking at ladies as they undress. dadadada (Twilight Zone Music)
So, what’s for dinner: a three course gourmet meal came with my stay. Yum. I love it when someone else cooks, don’t you?
1st night:
1st course – Smoked salmon tartar, with dilled cream, shaved cucumber slices, and baby radishes. YUM
Second course – Roast pork with baby field greens and a tiny bit of brown sauce (maybe a wine sauce?)
Third course – apple compote topped with a finely ground muesli and whipping cream
SECOND NIGHT:
First course – Yellow Pea Soup ( Sorta like our Pea Soup only yellow, thinner, and tasted slightly like ham.) With 1 scallop and a piece of halibut.
Second course – Steak with baby cabbages (maybe brussels sprouts, but tasted like cabbage.) and two small (1 tablespoon each) dollops of mashed potatoes.
Third course – Fresh yogurt sprinkled with white chocolate and carmelized pumpkin seeds.
FYI no ghosts seen yet, unless you count the bathroom door that cracked open when I took a shower last night.
Nite all, and hugs from Denmark.
