I’m so exited! I just got the commitment from Joy Harmon Prouty of Wildflowers Photos to be our guest on the show Monday, May 17th. Joy is an amazing family photographer who has managed to expand a hobby she loved into an incredible photography business, while raising two happy, healthy babies. She has been featured twice (that I know of) on Entertainment Tonight, and often does those adorable baby photos for Hollywood famous folks. You can view some of her work on her blog at http://www.wildflowersphotos.com. We’ll be interviewing her on how she balances her growing career and her family. – Dr. Vicky

I wonder what’s the purpose of raising healthy kids, if, when they grow up, their place of employment may become an unsupervised place of drug distribution and consumption for the financial benefit of the corporation, while no state laws are in place to protect the healthy kids? Isn’t this a waste?
Well, that’s a pretty broad perspective. But honestly, I think it’s really important that as a parent we take responsibility for RAISING OUR OWN kids. Who says that when they grow up, “their place of employment may becom an unsupervised place of drug distribution and consumption for the financial benefit of the corporation…etc.” My children were raised healthy and happy and have chosen NOT to work in that environment. One son is extremely active in politics and creating those laws to protect healthy kids. The other son is in the process of raising two healthy happy babies. My heartfelt response is that PARENTS raise healthy happy kids AND pay attention to politics that support them in doing so. It is NEVER a waste to put your personal time and energy into raising a healthy child – your own, or any way that you can help someone else to do so. – Dr. Vicky
Wow, Constanta, what a way to live in the present! You are so worried about something that may not happen in the future it’s almost frightening.
As a parent, it is your duty to raise your kids the healthiest you are able within your means. That means teaching them how to think healthy, eat healthy, move healthy, sleep healthy, and love healthy.
Your post isn’t screaming healthy at me, frankly. I’d encourage you to stop worrying about the future and focus on what you can do right this minute to raise your children to be healthy. It starts with you.
The past is done, the future hasn’t happened. All you have is right now.
